Trønderkvintetten Scarecrows er ute med sitt fjerde album.
På det nye albumet til Scarecrows har vokalisten Bjørn Grønvik skrevet all tekst og musikk. De fem musikerne rendyrker sin gitarbaserte countryrock. Grønvik er en meget habil låtskriver og skriver sanger med stor spennvidde, med melodisk countryrock som fellesnevner.
Bandet bruker banjo, fele og mandolin på flere av låtene på albumet.
Dette svinger bra, og den tette countryrocken som bandet er gode eksponenter for, kan blant annet høres på "So Far... So Long", "One For The Silverscreen" og "Brake Your Love". "Rattlesnake Law" bør glede countryfans over hele landet.

Crowman.
An earthy band with an eloquent rock sound from, get this, Norway! The Scarecrows are not lacking for any "rootsy" sound in their music or their release Crowman. Lots of mandolin, acoustics and twanged vocals in the mix for this album. You`d think the band was coming straigh at you from Jacksonville,FLA instead of from across the pond. Rock music is a universal language, as evidenced by The Scarecrows, a five-piece band from Norway, whose sound includes a little country, hard rock and even 60’s-psychedelic-garage influences. Et sted mellom amerikansk rock'n roll og rufsete country er trondheimsbandet
The Scarecrows i ferd med å bli et band av klasse.
Deres tredje plate måler seg med svært mye som er gitt ut i sjangeren i år. Gitarist Svein Grostad har entret bandet siden forrige utgivelse. Han har tilført bandet mer tyngde, samt større spenn i lydbildet, med mandolin, banjo og fiolin, innimellom effektivt gitararbeid sammen med Dagfinn Leinum. Viktigst er likevel en stadig mer framtredende bandfølelse og høyt nivå på de beste sangene. En svakhet ved plata er at den muligens har for mange sanger, slik at de svakeste blekner vel mye mot de beste, men det er strengt tatt pirk. «Crowman» har nemlig ti sanger som holder og vel så det, noe som er en usedvanlig cd-foreteelse i disse dager. - Adresseavisen

The Scarecrows «Crowman» Roadhouse Records/Amigo

Det har vært lite blest rundt The Scarecrows, som har to mer eller mindre «hemmelige» utgivelser bak seg. Det er bare å håpe at det vil snu med «The Crowman», deres mest gjennomarbeidete plate - med 15 låter som ikke står tilbake for mye av det som kommer over havet av såkalt alternativ country i Neil Young/Jayhawks/Son Volt-tradisjonen. Jeg noterer meg en hang til reine, fikse riff og pene harmonier, samt en vilje til å utvide horisonten. Det vel-spillende bandet har en fin låtskriver i Bjørn Grønvik (vokal/gitar/munnspill), som først og fremst skårer på en imponerende jevnhet. Likevel er det grunn til å sette ekstra store kryss i margen for «Sleeping In The Shadow», «Rambling Roots», «Ghostville» og «Red Clouded Sky».
